Administrative Coordinator : Emily Neilsen

Emily is honored to be the new Administrative Coordinator at the Quesnel Women's Resource Centre. She has lived in Quesnel since 2007, volunteering in the community and working various jobs in forestry and with children and youth. Emily recently left Quesnel Shelter & Support Society, where she worked for 5 years with vulnerable individuals. As an eco-feminist and human rights activist, she has always been very passionate about women's rights. Emily is truly honored to be part of such an inclusive and collaborative organization.

Counsellor/Outreach Support: Brittany Marsh

Brittany Marsh (She/Her) is a Counsellor/Outreach Worker at the Quesnel Women’s Resource Centre. Brittany holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree with an Indigenous specialization. Brittany is passionate about her role and committed to continuing education.

“My purpose at the Women’s Centre is to provide culturally safe, empathic, and inclusive LGBTQIA 2S+ care to women of all cultures and experiences. To provide women with a sense of safety, to maintain and build their dignity, self-worth, and self-respect. To assist women in finding appropriate resources that meet their own unique needs. To assist each woman in gaining awareness that they are not alone, that there is hope, and that they have purpose in their own lives.”

Counsellor: Catherine Forbes

Catherine provides counselling, education, advocacy, and support for individuals of all genders. Catherine has worked with the QWRC for over 13 years providing an integrated trauma-informed approach to her clients. Catherine provides service to people who may be experiencing mental health, relationship, and/or substance use issues and any other life stressors. Catherine has more than 25 years’ experience working in the mental health field and with women who have experienced abuse. Catherine is also experienced working with transgendered populations, youth, and people from diverse cultures.

Counsellor/Outreach Support: Lauren Abbott

Lauren provides outreach and in-house support to women who are experiencing, or have experienced, trauma due to violence, poverty, family breakup and any other life stressors. Lauren is also an experienced family support worker, childbirth educator and doula. She can provide emotional and informational support to women and their families facing challenges related to pregnancy birth and parenting.

Bookkeeper: Dawn Horn

Dawn works closely Administrative Coordinator and performs the general accounting duties for the Quesnel Women’s Resource Centre. She maintains financial records, keeps track of accounts, and verifies the accuracy of procedures used for recording financial transactions. Dawn also coordinates the CAI Advisory Committee.

Facilitator: Debbie Scallion

Debbie Scallion has been coordinating and delivering the in-class violence prevention presentations Respectful Relationships since 2014. Debbie has a passion for working with youth and brings enthusiasm and a deep regard for connecting with youth and aspiring to bring out the best in them. She has worked in the field of mental health for over 18 years, and is a counsellor in private practise outside of the work she does for the QWRC.

RR Facilitator: Angie Bagri

Angie Bagri has been facilitating Respectful Relationship classes in Quesnel since 2014. She brings with her enthusiasm, and a kindness that permeates everything she does. Angie loves working with youth and it shows in how she is able to easily connect and facilitate difficult content in a fun and relaxed way.
